Annual National Retreat for young Catholic adults

The annual national retreat for young Catholic adults is coming up next weekend.

It is an event any self-respecting Catholic shouldn't dream of missing. It's a great place to meet young Catholics from all over the country, with time for quiet prayer, Mass as we love it and guidance from the UK's best retreat guide Fr de Malleray FSSP (well at least in my humble opinion!). On top of that there's great socials in the evening too.

There will be a contingent of those who went to World Youth Day attending too, so there will be plenty of tales to be told too.

If you have not signed up yet, head on straight away to the YCA website for booking the annual national retreat for Catholic youth and get in contact to sign up.

The national retreat for young Catholics at Douay has a special place in my story, it was a place that I genuinely laughed my heart out, I had some classic moments in the kitchen, it was a place where I met friends who have walked with me ever since, good friends, it was a place where I was genuinely touched and inspired by preaching that I have never heard in any parish Church or Cathedral for that matter, and where I felt really welcome. It will remain with me. Go, see for yourself!

Finding a Catholic Social group near you!

Good to be back everyone, World Youth Day was an experience not to forget and don't worry there will be a report up soon!

Just a quick post really to say our Catholic Social group will be meeting after the 11am Sunday Mass (4th September) at the Church of Saint William of York on Upper Redlands Road (see map). We'll meet after Mass and decide whether we all want to pack into my flat to catch up on the last few weeks events! Bring snacks!

Looking forwards to catching up with everyone!

P.s. Juventutem at WYD got press in most of the mainstream newspapers and blogs, you can hear about the inside story of the prayer vigil in front of the WYD/Papal protesters.

World Youth Day group

Catholics around the world are getting ready for us!
We're getting down to the final few days before the international Juventutem retreat in Bilbao, and then on to World Youth Day (or as someone aptly pointed out Week).
As the main contributor to this blog, I will be going, I hope to find an Internet connection and update the site while I'm out there, but if you don't hear anything for two weeks, that will be why.
There are about 11 or 12 people from the UK going including 4 from Reading which is great! I'm sort of ready, just need to wash some clothes and do some ironing! Aside from that I am really looking forwards to the event.
Someone pointed out to me that I was going there for a purpose; for others. Believe it or not I had been mostly thinking about what I was going to be getting out of it, the thought that God was bringing me to this event for a specific reason for someone else was quite, well, awakening. It's a beautiful way to think about it.
As for any events in Reading while we are gone, there are still some pro-active members remaining in Reading who are eager to get something organised, so please do get in touch with us (our email is the name of the blog, all one word @gmail.com)
